It's official: JBL is back

JBL is back, and the 2019 season will be starting in May: that's the word from an insider the league office, who as of yet have not made an official statement. The league is allegedly preparing a press conference and will announce the league's return in the next week or so. Details are fuzzy, but we can confirm that there will be streamlined operations to ensure the league runs smoothly. Among the changes is a "JBL Day" per week, where all weekly activity will occur, allowing the league's busy GMs to conduct their other business during the week and focus on the one period.

We can also confirm that, so far, GMs from the current JBL powerhouses the Buzzards, Tritons and Rockets have all confirmed their return to their teams, with the Cyclones and Vultures still awaiting calls from their former GMs. The Hurricanes are rumoured to be awaiting a call as well. The rest of the teams are currently open, and some teams have been taking applications.

It is an exciting time to be a JBL fan, and something which many have hoped and dreamed about for 18 months. JBL is back, baby.

Email the league if you wish to be placed on the mailing list if the JBL is to return.

About the JBL

The JBL Fantasy Basketball League is the most realistic, complete fantasy league on the Internet. Established in 1991, the JBL is currently in its 30th season (2019, the 23rd online) and as such is one of the longest running fantasy leagues.

The JBL uses fantasy, rather than NBA players, generated by the customized simulator (called simply 'JBL Basketball Simulator'). These players are created at 8 years old and play in background leagues to develop: junior school, high school, college and seven international leagues are all simulated in the background. The simulator allows the output of all statistics, boxscores and news. Every player has hundreds of attributes and feelings, and with the extraordinarily realistic events simulator, creates a rich texture of an actual, "living" basketball league. JBL includes features unheard of in any other fantasy sports: praising and criticizing of players, issuing press releases and responding to scandalous rumours, scouting from college and international leagues, dictating to players individual instructions, chemistry conflicts, and much more.

The General Managers of the twenty JBL franchises use a program called the JBL Studio to manage their roster, view statistics and boxscores, interact with players and other GMs from around the world, view league news and many other functions. The Studio is updated often and is built upon GM suggestions.

If you're new to the league, you should start by learning about the league. You can find out if there are any available teams, or apply if you're interested in managing a franchise.
